Catch-up, Blog Post Mania

Ok first, this is written as an apology to those that recieve the Art Marketing Buzz posts from a feed.  You are getting bombarded with updates today..sorry.  The reason is actually an interesting story.

May 13 on an awesome bright Wed, I left my job. I dont even think I wrote about it. Odd, given that my job sucked and I was totally unhappy there. I cant comment on the wisdom of leaving an executive level job in the midst of an economic downturn other than to say the price of following yor dream can be extreme. At least at first…and to the folks outside looking in saying…that ding dong. I know though that I can profit from passion.  That by totally focusing on what I want to do instead of what societal norms and moire’s would have me do, I will surpass the income I had previously.  Whats more important is that I will be more fulfilled and not such a bear.

Ok, so having left my 60 hour a week position I delved into a ton of diffeent projects. To many. I then went on vacation (part new venture) and also moved my office from the house to the studio. Nice.

Before moving my office I took my little cheesy lap-top to the studio to make sure my wireless router was strong enough to give a signal to the studio.  Yep, no problem. I commenced with the move. I broke down all of the computer goodies and moved books and bookshelves, desks and chairs, more books.

I wanted to try and set things up as I moved them so it wasnt such a big deal. When I went to put up the hayworth cube for my main computer I didnt have a piece I needed that connected to the wall. No piece-no desk. No desk-no computer set-up.  Ok that cost a few weeks (a whole other post on customer service) to get my 4 dollar part that was holding up the progress of my studio office. Finally I recievd the 2 inch piece of metal that was causing the grief and was able to get the desk and partition up.

I happily moved my MAC out to the studio over the weekend. I had been trying to keep up on email throgh the pc I have for bookeeping and other stuff as well as an occassional bout  with the cheesy laptop. I dutifully patched all of the cords and cables…neatly I might add.  Looked like the wiring harness one might see in a gearhead magazine for the lastest street rod craze.  It was pretty. Booted up the MAC for a test and promptly found out I could not get a signal to my MAC. Wierd.

The cheese ball and the ancient PC both in the same room, sitting next to the MAC had full strength signals.  No connection for my working computer.

I eventually (10 days later) figured out I would not get the internet without being directly connected. This after hours of tech help with MAC and a visit from my calbe company. So I ordered an 150 foot ethernet cable. Got it today!

It runs from the house to the studio and I am going to have to bury it in conduit and punch a hole in the wall for it to go through…but I have internet tonight for the first time in several weeks on my working computer. So the apology is for sending out so many posts in such a short time.  I had posts written and waiting to go. Now I will play catch-up in getting them out.
